Lauren Greenfield is widely considered to be one of America's most acclaimed chroniclers of youth culture. She was selected to the list of American Photos Magazine's 100 most influential people in photography and one of Canon's Explorers of Light. Raised in southern California and a graduate of Harvard, Greenfield has received several major awards and grants, including the ICP Infinity Award; the National Geographic Society's Photographic Documentary Grant; the Hasselblad Foundation Grant; and the Nikon Sabbatical Grant.. She is a member of VII, a photographer's cooperative based in Paris. Her work appears regularly in The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, National Geographic, Harper's Bazaar and Time. Her monographs include the award-winning Fast Forward: Growing Up in the Shadow of Hollywood (Knopf, 1997); and Girl Culture (Chronicle Books, 2002).
