Christian Patterson
(American, 1972 - )

Christian Patterson works intuitively, scouring the streets for the evocative colors that reveal the unique quality of a place. In his Sound Affects series, it is the self-described "visual melodies" that come to surface. Patterson's photographs are the residues of the city of Memphis, steeped in its musical history. Other ongoing projects are On Wisconsin and Out There, a photographic project focused on the road-tripping serial killer Charles Starkweather. Patterson's work is included in several notable collections including those of the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art.
