Hong Kong: Front Door/Back Door The photographs of Michael Wolf explore the cultural identity of Hong Kong, where he has lived since 1995. Wolf's involvement with the concept of vernacular culture has led him to photograph the contemporary metropolis, capturing both the vast scale of Hong Kong's monumental architecture and traces of human intervention in this complex urban landscape. His new monograph presents both of these perspectives side by side, and as Kenneth Baker writes in his introduction to Hong Kong: Front Door/Back Door, "...celebrates the uncharted cultural terrain of Hong Kong's back-alley sensibility".
